Gabor Was born in Hungary Europe in 1970 in a town called Szeged. It is the largest southern most city in Hungary. His family emigrated to the states in 1983 to Illinois. He studied at the American Academy of Art from 1989 to 1992. He was fortunate to study with nationally recognized watercolorist Irving Shapiro at the school, where he stressed the students about composition, design and drawing. His grandmother was also a big influence on him because she was a painter also and it is in her studio where he saw his first original painting and the smell of oil paint still reminds him of her. Gabor also took two years of life drawing and illustration. Joined the Palette & Chisel in 1994 and took a workshop with Scott Burdick there.
Since then he hase taken workshops with Matt Smith and also from Robert Moore. Gabors travels have taken him to many states across the west. The reason the he loves the west is the big open spaces and big mountains where one can still find untouched places.
